Glock 42 Release Date - I bought mine at the end of the first year and had no problems. I wear them most of the time and can carry them in my jacket's inside breast pocket, Uncle Mike's pocket, or Vedder Tuckable IWB (accessory). Nobody cares.

Volume is very low for this gun. My kids shoot it in the 9-12 range and I have no problem shooting it. My brother shoots my G26 and G23/G19 (I have a reversible barrel...thank goodness!) and he prefers to shoot the G42 because of the low recoil.

I don't like the trigger on this one, so I got a 3.5 pound linkage to reduce the long pull and hard break. Maybe the size and weight of the gun, but the trigger seems to have a longer webbing, which is "harder" to break.

This was the first Glock I ever bought and I don't regret it! A friend of mine told me. I said I want to get 42 or 43. I chose the 42 for its simplicity and ease of concealment. Hope you get 43. Traded my Taurus 738 for this gun. Jam has many problems. Don't mess with the Glock. Looking forward to adding more rounds to the range.

Plus fun shoot. Like my son's G43, I have a Ruger LC9s that 'mess' with my wrist and thumb. ..the best of all worlds for me. Small, light, easy to shoot (right!), and very effective with the 'right' ammo (I like the Lehigh Xtreme Defender).

Newbie, I love shooting too. Made in the US, the 2014 G42 is Glock's smallest pistol to date. This pistol is the "baby" of all Glocks. With zero weight and a compact frame size of less than 14 ounces, the G42 is uniquely portable. The small frame comes at a cost - the pistol's standard capacity is only 6+1. For environments or areas where concealment is important, the G42 mounts to the plate.

Glock G42: A Remarkable Handgun

I recently spent time at the range with a Glock 42 and put hundreds of rounds through the various guns. I included personal defense ammunition such as Hornady Critical Defense and Speer Gold Dot 90 GR rounds. As expected, the Toyota Camry of Guns (Glock) handled everything I threw at it without a problem.

Overall, I liked how the G42 performed – especially when compared to similar options on the market. Firing the G42 is a "smooth" experience without moving the muzzle. The G42 is easy to shoot one-handed, especially for someone carrying a 9mm. The frame is short but not too thick, which I believe plays a big role in controlling shedding. Even with .380 ACP cartridges, some "pocket" pistols on the market (looking at you Ruger LCP) aren't easy to shoot.

When looking at CCW options people often worry about too many pistols to conceal. Not so with the G42. The smallest Glock ever made and I'm sure everyone out there can carry it concealed with no problems.

Most people who consider this pistol think it is too small for them to shoot well.

The G42 is very small, with a smaller frame size than your typical "compact" phone. That being said, shooting the G42 isn't all that difficult. I believe the lighter .380 ACP cartridge helped in this regard. This pistol can be handled and fired accurately at a personal defense range of 7 yards.

Compared to other 380 ACP low-density pistols I've shot, it's much easier in the hands. Tracking shots was easier than I expected with the G42. After hundreds of rounds, the hands may not scream for love. In other words, the G42 is still good to shoot.

Despite being short at 4.13 inches tall and with a large magazine, I was able to stay confident.

At 14 oz, the G42 is a lightweight pistol. This is a problem for some, but if so, you'll be glad you did.

These days, most of us are not impressed with the power of 6+1. Honestly, it's not that amazing. Especially when you consider newer pistols like the Sig P365 or Glock 43X that offer 10+1 in 9mm.

If you're interested in Glock 42 concealed carry, you've got help with that power shortage. Aftermarket magazine attachments such as the HYVE Technologies type are available for those looking to add up to 2 rounds.

Taking this pistol to the range and firing hundreds of rounds I feel the trigger. As for the Glock's trigger, it's good. I won't say it's good, but it's good. The pistol I tested had the sight malfunction and reset. I did 10 weight checks and they averaged less than 5 pounds. For the pistol I tested.

Other critics of the G42 expressed dissatisfaction with the G42 trigger. My point is that compared to options like the Ruger LCP and LCP2, this trigger is much better. I noticed a short and clean scope not found on other "pocket pistols".

Gun Review: Glock 42

When it comes to visuals, we're used to getting a lot of options, and that's the case with the G42. The pistol I tested was equipped with Ameriglo bold sights. Easy to line up and track shots - especially when paired with a simple collar.

Let me start by saying that I am very pleased with the ergonomics and layout of the Glock features.

Because of the compact tube, the magazine and film feed were easy to fit and easy to operate. I often struggle to control performance on ultra-compact bridges, so I'm glad the G42 doesn't have to deal with that. I'm going to point out here that the G42 has a reversible magazine release for left-handed shooters.

The G42 felt great in the hand, and as I said before, it was very comfortable to shoot. I felt like I could train with the G42 all day and not get bored.

As part of my time with the G42, I used a LabRadar Doppler radar to test the muzzle velocity of a self-defense gun. The personal defense ammunition I used for this was the 90 GR Hornady FTX round. I compared the muzzle velocity of 5 bullets and it gave me a muzzle velocity of 916 FPS.

Muzzle velocity is 1,000 FPS from a 4" barrel. These findings were expected from a G42 with a 3.25" barrel length.

While not my first choice or recommendation for a CCW pistol based on caliber, the G42 is a solid little pistol in my opinion. It's hard to say exactly why I chose it over a compact 9mm pistol, but I'm sure some shooters will find it better for their needs. Finding the right CCW pistol has a lot to do with the individual. For some, the G42 fits the bill. Compliance with federal, state and local laws is the buyer's responsibility. All firearms must be picked up by a dealer (real dealer) at your designated gym.
