He brought together European experts, in 1982 he tested the Glock 17 and another from the famous Austrian history.

Glock pistols are polymer-framed, semi-automatic, short-action, bolt-action, semi-automatic pistols. The G17 was the first model produced and was designed to meet the needs of the Austrian military. The special needs of the Austrian military led to the development of the weapon and define Glock pistols to this day. The Austrian army needed a safe, light, high-quality and reliable semi-automatic pistol, and the Glock fulfilled this need.
Glock has a simple way of naming their pistols. All models have a number after the letter G, which seems to stand for Glock. The numbers have nothing to do with the gun itself and seem confusing to many - for example, the G45 is not a .45 caliber pistol, it's actually a 9mm.
Numbers are assigned to designs as they are launched, not the order in which they are presented. While development of the G20 and 21 began before the 22 and 23, the 22 and 23 were released first.
The G17 hit the streets at a time when safety devices on handguns were commonplace. Glock's Plastic Fantastics don't have manual safeties, but that doesn't mean they're unsafe. Glock calls its pistols the Glock Safe Action Pistol, which refers to the three independent safety mechanisms.

The trigger safety is a popular small trigger that sits in the center of the trigger. The finger presses the trigger lock, when you press the trigger without activating the trigger lock, the trigger cannot be pulled.
The firing pin lock blocks forward movement of the firing pin when the striker pops. When the trigger is pulled, the trigger rod pushes the gun's safety up and away. If you release the trigger before firing, the firing pin safety will automatically retract.
A safety tire is a device that does exactly what you think it does. If you drop the gun, it will definitely not fire. When the trigger is pulled, the trigger bar lowers and allows the firing pin to be cocked.
Glock is now in its fifth generation. New generations come as Glock makes changes, both external and internal. There is no timeline for when Glock generations end or begin, they evolve as needed.

The release of a new generation does not always destroy previous generations. Newer and older generations of Glocks are often manufactured together.
There are also guns that exist outside of the Glocks of defined generations. Some weapons are in place and may not have the generation tags that are used to identify which generation they are. Some guns also span generations, most commonly between Gen 2 and Gen 3 guns. These are often referred to as Gen 2.5 guns by Glock enthusiasts.
Gen 1 – the first glocks on the market. It's plain and simple: guns work. The Gen 1 is made entirely of one gun, the Glock 17.
Gen 2 - Glock added different sizes and calibers with the Gen 2 models. A metal serial number tag was included, the guide bar became one piece, a check was added to the front and rear of the grip, and the base of the magazine was changed.

Gen 3 - The third generation made bridges a more common choice in larger guns than subcompacts. The grip has added finger grooves and carved ridges on the left and right sides of the frame to form a thumb.
Internal changes included a cross pin above the trigger pin to reduce interference with the locking block. The panel stood up even when the room was loaded and served as an indicator of room filling.
Gen 4 - With the Gen 4, Glock made the pistol grip smaller and added a rear mounting system to change the size of the grip. The grip was more rounded and the magazine release was reversible for lefties.
The Gen 4 also included a double coilover bar assembly to reduce sensitivity. Gen 4 was also the introduction of MOS rifles that allowed the installation of sights.

Gen 5 - The latest Glock is the Gen 5. These pistols have been taken off the fingerboard, the magazine well is aligned for quick loading, a high relief is made in the trigger guard for a higher level, and the slide lock is now. ambidextrous.

Prior to the release of the 4th generation, Glock recognized nothing more than model numbers, which contributed to the idea that "a Glock is a Glock is a Glock-E alike." But publishers in ancient times noticed the difference and created three informal methods or "generations" to classify them. The pictures below will help you clearly see what generation your Glock is, but note that there is a lot of variation as the change is gradual. Also, 3rd gen guns are still being made due to California restrictions, so you could have a 5th gen gun that is much older than your 3rd. The info in the pictures show important characteristics that are the same throughout the generation, but small changes in the symbols and parts of them can be found at different times - and sometimes back and forth - in One gen. major revisions, with many parts changing two or more times, but some only changing for a short time within a generation.
Generation 1 is one of constant change. The first design, although reliable, is still under development. All that remains is the strap that wraps around the entire handle (no front or back check). Compared to later generations, it has a fun feel and collectors call it "stone texture". Early rifles featured a softer steel barrel with a quick release anti-skid finish (no more than an AD prefix) and the added thickness of leather did not exceed the AN prefix. Inside there are many variations of magazines, boxes and even small parts. All guns will have Austrian certification marks, but not the same assembly or serial numbers. Fast guns (pre-US) and those intended for the European market do not have a serial number marking inside the frame. Many early guns were also fitted with sights known as "weak sights" due to their sensitivity. Conventional (fixed) views are also often accurate, although the model will cost something. All frames had good half-moon clearance at the bottom of the front straps with the exception of the few 19's produced.
The 2nd generation is what most collectors or uninformed buyers will refer to as "Gen 1". The confusion stems from two things: 1. 1. Gens are rare and many casual viewers may not have seen them before. 2. Many models were introduced in the 2nd Gen line and are considered by some to be the “1st. Gen” because it was the first version of that particular model. To be clear, if you have a model 20 or higher, you have a Gen 2 Glock, even if it is the original version.
