But here is the foundation of the mill. Your slides are placed on a computer-controlled or high-tech machine. The machine uses specially designed tools to remove and restore your lines. The end result is a completely different look.
In the machining process, the bare metal on the slide is exposed. Therefore, the slide is ceracoated or given black nitride. Primary Machine offers a wide range of Cerakote colors or combinations and patterns that, when paired with a lip piece, completely change the look of the gun. As you can see from the pictures, the gun looks amazing. But there's an added benefit to having your slide professionally polished that goes beyond its killer look.
Let's start with the concept of slide lightening. The key is to reduce the moving load of your slide. A lighter line will spin faster, allowing for faster follow-up shots. It sounds like a good idea, but there are downsides. Removing too much material from the slide, or removing it from critical areas can weaken and break the slide. What does the primary machine say about it?
The fact is that of the thousands of images we have developed, only one is cracked. It is a prototype slide of the new cut. We have addressed the issue, and it is now running on hundreds of slides with no issues reported.
Custom Slide Machining And Optic Cuts
There are many companies that do this type of work, but I felt better that Primary Machine has a strong track record with milling packages. In fact, even though the sample size is small, I put 250 rounds through my Glock 43 with the UCC V3 Cat, without any sign of a problem.
Another advantage of the mill is that the optics are perfectly aligned with the rifle. Many people may not know this but the RMR optics that are becoming popular in shotguns need to be 'fitted' to your rifle by creating a 'notch' to mount on the slide.
I say 'right' because there is a way to mount the optics by using some type of adapter that uses the cable on the rear panel. The grinding option is the 'right' method because it seals the optic to the slide very well. When using the other method, the points that protect the optics of the slide can wear and weaken, during the continuous impact when the slide is turned.
There are several things to consider when processing the optic. More importantly, what kind of optics will you be using? The primary machine not only mills the most popular optics available for the Burris Fastfire III, Leupold Deltapoint Pro, Shield RMS, Trijicon RMR, Vortex Venom / Viper, but also mills to accommodate steel sights for backup use.

Simply grinding to accept optics is not as simple as it seems. The points that are attached to the optics of the slide undergo stress due to the rotation of the slide. To make sure that no problems will develop on the road, they have different cats. The diagram from their website shows how.
